Softball Recap: Milford Comes Up Short

Milford might've scored the first runs on Saturday, but it was Salem who claimed the real prize. The Mavericks fell just short of the Rocks by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mavericks have suffered since May 22, 2024.

Kylee Flack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Milford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tori Russell, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Julia Brescol also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Milford has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Salem, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3-1.

Coming up, Milford will stay at home for another game and welcome Lakeland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are coming into the matchup with six straight defeats on the road, meaning the Mavericks will have to defend against a squad out to prove they can win away from home. As for Salem, they will face off against Novi at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.09 runs per game on average), something the Rocks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
