Baraboo is a perfect 3-0 against Stoughton since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds will challenge the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Baraboo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Baraboo got the win against Wisconsin Dells by a conclusive 11-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.
Taytum Poker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Zeva Valley was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Addison Kohler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Stoughton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 11-8 to DeForest.
Emily Matheny and Abby Lange did some serious damage despite the final result: Matheny got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, while Lange scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Buell, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Baraboo pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Stoughton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Baraboo took their victory against Stoughton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
