Basketball Game Preview: Compton Tarbabes vs. Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits

Compton hasn't had much luck against Long Beach Poly recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Compton Tarbabes will welcome the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 6:00 p.m. Compton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Compton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a blow against Jordan on Wednesday, falling 120-90. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (82), the Tarbabes still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 68-36 win over the Bruins. That looming 68-36 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Jackrabbits yet this season.

Long Beach Poly is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Compton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Compton took a serious blow against Long Beach Poly when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 65-27. Can Compton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
