Basketball Recap: Meyer Robb and Nash Hostetter Secure Win for Mt. Vernon

Mt. Vernon hadn't done well against Washington recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mt. Vernon Wildcats skirted past the Washington Hatchets 55-52. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Hatchets are ranked 71st).

Mt. Vernon was led to victory by Nash Hostetter and Meyer Robb. Hostetter posted 17 points and five rebounds, while Robb went 6-for-13 en route to 16 points and seven boards. Robb's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Bryce Clowers was another key player, putting up seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Vernon and bumps their season record up to 11-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.
