Softball Recap: Kentwood Beats Kennedy Catholic for Their Third Straight Victory

Kentwood entered their tilt with Kennedy Catholic on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 7-3. The Conquerors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Gabby Greenwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kentwood let Joe Francis-Rodrigues and Ell Sakai run wild. Francis-Rodrigues went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Sakai earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sofia Mottern Salinas, who went 1-for-4 with three runs.

Kentwood's record is now 3-6. As for Kennedy Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Looking ahead, Kentwood will head out to face off against Tahoma at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Conquerors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will welcome Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
