Baseball Recap: Douglas County Takes a Loss

Douglas County suffered their closest defeat since March 17th on Monday. They fell just short of the Regis Jesuit Raiders by a score of 7-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 18-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Zander Tomczak was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gunnar Tinari was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Spensor Sharp, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Douglas County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Regis Jesuit, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Douglas County has already played their next match, an 8-1 win against ThunderRidge on the 25th. As for Regis Jesuit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-4 victory against Fruita Monument on the 23rd.
