Football Recap: Provine Keeps Murrah's Under Pressure

Provine had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it six. The matchup between the Rams and the Murrah Mustangs didn't end well, with the Rams falling 21-6. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.

Even if they lost, Provine's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. CHARLESTON CARPENTER refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Murrah's side was HAUSTON STRICKLING, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles.

Murrah's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Among those leading the charge was Courtavious Russell, who picked up 123 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Coming up, Provine will square off against Forest Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Murrah, they will take on Lanier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 6.4 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
