Basketball Recap: Chino Valley Takes a Loss

If Chino Valley was feeling good fresh off their 52-30 takedown of Mayer last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chino Valley Cougars lost 51-27 to the San Pasqual Valley Warriors on Thursday.

San Pasqual Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyla Emerson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 boards. The dominant performance also gave Emerson a new career-high in steals (five). Daeja Villicana was another key player, putting up seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Chino Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for San Pasqual Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Chino Valley will square off against Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Prep's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Chino Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for San Pasqual Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-44 victory against Music Mountain on the 3rd.
