Baseball Recap: Wray Wins Going Away Against Burlington

Wray barely beat Burlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-2 victory on Saturday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by seven runs or more this season.

Carson Rockwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Helling, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Gabe Kechter was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Wray's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Burlington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
