Preview: Banneker Bulldogs vs. Ballou Knights
Banneker has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Ballou Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Banneker has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three contests.
Last Wednesday, Banneker faced Roosevelt in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Banneker took a 69-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roosevelt. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (62), Banneker still had to take the loss.
Banneker might have lost, but man, Jeremiah Shelton was a machine: he scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Shelton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Doran Clausell, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Banneker struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Roosevelt pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ballou was able to grind out a solid victory over DC International on Wednesday, taking the game 51-43.
Banneker's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Ballou, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
Banneker didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ballou in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. Does Banneker have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ballou turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
