Basketball Recap: Marathon Extends Winning Streak to Three

Marathon won against Newman last Friday with 67 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Marathon Red Raiders came out on top against the Assumption Royals by a score of 67-54. The Red Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Royals, too.

The victory (which was Marathon's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Assumption, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marathon and Columbus Catholic will round out the year against one another at at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Assumption, they will square off against Amherst at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. Assumption is facing Amherst at the right time seeing as Amherst is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
