Baseball Recap: Modesto Christian Takes a Loss

Modesto Christian had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-19 to make it four. They came up short against the Gustine Reds, falling 11-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Reds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Tuesday.

Modesto Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Guilano Perez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Gustine, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-5. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Gustine's side, Alexander Quezada made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Quezada has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Gustine got a massive performance out of Frank Silveira, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Silveira's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Campbell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Modesto Christian will take on Ceres at 11:15 a.m. on Monday. The Crusaders are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Gustine, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Stone Ridge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on May 1.
