            Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Wakefield). Everything went their way against the Panther Creek Catamounts on Wednesday as the Wakefield Wolverines made off with  a  15-4 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six  runs or more this season.

 Blake Waltman looked comfortable as he  struck out six batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   three  hits (and not a single walk). Those  six  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high.
 On the hitting side,  Eli Gross and  Mikey Katz did most of the damage at the plate:  Gross  went 2-for-3 with one  triple and one  RBI, while  Katz  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. That  triple marked the first that  Gross  hit this season. Another player making a difference was  Luke Blackburn, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Wakefield  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .618. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Wakefield pushed their record up to 8-2 with the  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Panther Creek,  they are  on  a  seven-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-8.
 Looking ahead, Wakefield will be playing in front of their home fans against Rolesville  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Wakefield's pitching crew has only allowed three  runs per game  this season, so Rolesville's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Panther Creek, they will challenge Apex at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Panther Creek has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
