Baseball Recap: Reno Falls Short of Basic in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Reno can now relate to. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Basic Wolves on Thursday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Huskies were not able to get on the board.

This is the second loss in a row for Reno and nudges their season record down to 25-14. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 28-6 Bishop Manogue (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 79.5% over those games). As for Basic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season.

Reno and Basic are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Huskies will take on Bishop Manogue at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Miners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Reno's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Basic, they will square off against Faith Lutheran at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
