Baseball Recap: Canyon Victorious

Canyon was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out the Yorba Linda Mustangs 8-7. For the Comanches, this counts as revenge for the 6-4 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Chip Mertz and Blake Helsper did most of the damage at the plate: Mertz scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Helsper scored a run while going 2-for-4. Helsper also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Bryce Lloyd was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
