Softball Game Preview: Wardlaw Academy Patriots vs. Greenwood Christian Hawks

The Wardlaw Academy Patriots will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Greenwood Christian Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wardlaw Academy will be strutting in after a win while Greenwood Christian will be coming in after a loss.

While Wardlaw Academy's victory against Richard Winn Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wardlaw Academy had just enough and edged out Richard Winn Academy 9-8 on Friday.

Kya McCormick ( SR) was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hill (JR), who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Wardlaw Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Greenwood Christian lost 15-5 to Ware Shoals on Tuesday. The Hawks have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Wardlaw Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Greenwood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Wardlaw Academy couldn't quite get it done against Greenwood Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 21-18. Can Wardlaw Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
