Baseball Recap: Gibbs Gladiators vs. Gulf Buccaneers
Gibbs extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Gulf Buccaneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.
Gibbs saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jovan Gervais, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
As for Gulf, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
On Gulf's side, the team relied heavily on Reid Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Wilcoxson, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Gibbs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gulf, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-6 defeat against Hudson on the 15th.
