Basketball Recap: Groves Takes a Loss

Groves lost against Rochester back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Groves Falcons lost to the Rochester Falcons at home by a 52-36 margin. While losing is never fun, Groves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Rochester is ranked 146th).

Despite the loss, Groves saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Harlem Simpson posted 18 points along with five boards and four steals. Simpson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

Groves dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Rochester, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Groves Falcons take on the Royal Oak Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rochester, they will host Bloomfield Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
