Football Game Preview: Santee Warriors vs. Hampton Hawks

Santee is 1-6 against Hampton since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Santee played against Grand Island Lutheran on Friday and won via forfeit.

Hampton took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ansley/Litchfield 73-20. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 24 points or more this season.

Hampton's win came from a few key players Santee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landen Rojewski, who picked up 219 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 63 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. Another player making a difference was Landen Hansen, who threw for 262 yards and six TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hampton proved: they limited Ansley/Litchfield to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Mason Wiens for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hampton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.2.

Hampton's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Tyler Mollevik was the leader with two.

Hampton's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points over those games. As for Santee, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
