Softball Recap: Stillman Valley Cardinals vs. Guilford Vikings
Stillman Valley barely beat Guilford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Stillman Valley's pitcher stepped up to hand Guilford a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. The Cardinals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.
Makenzie Shere was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Shere was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Musial, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Brooklyn Lee was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
The victory got Stillman Valley back to even at 1-1. As for Guilford, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
