Football Recap: Normangee Starts Season with Loss at Home

Normangee unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 34-18 fall against the Somerville Yeguas on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Although Normangee took the loss, they still got scores from Trey Kirven, PJ Edwards, and Kelvin Brooks.

Andrew Espinoza went supernova For Somerville., throwing for 311 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in one rushing score. Those 311 passing yards gave Espinoza a new career-high. Kyle Brooks was Espinoza's top target, picking up 91 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Looking ahead, Normangee is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Iola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Somerville, they will host Weimar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
