Baseball Recap: Western Wayne Takes a Loss

Western Wayne had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it four. They fell just short of the Dunmore Bucks by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

Damian Glackin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Dunmore, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Dunmore's side, Mason Stets made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stets has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Bobby Hoban was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Wayne will host Forest City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Dunmore, they will welcome Elk Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bucks 2.3, the Warriors 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
