Basketball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Hiwassee Dam won the last time they faced Hayesville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hiwassee Dam Eagles came out on top against the Hayesville Yellowjackets by a score of 49-42. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hayesville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Shook, who posted 13 points along with six assists and five boards. Shook is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryleigh Krieger, who put up five points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

The win (which was Hiwassee Dam's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. As for Hayesville, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hiwassee Dam will take on Andrews at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hayesville, they will welcome Chattanooga Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
