Basketball Game Preview: Hagerty Huskies vs. Astronaut War Eagles

The Hagerty Huskies will challenge the Astronaut War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hagerty has six straight victories, Astronaut has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Hagerty didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Orlando Christian Prep, but they still walked away with a 70-66 win.

Hagerty relied on the efforts of Asa Kohn, who went 10 of 16 on his way to 24 points along with seven boards and six assists, and Isaac Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Kohn's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Ortiz, who posted six points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.

Hagerty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Astronaut had to suffer through a 68-41 loss at the hands of Boone. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while the Braves are ranked 212th).

Hagerty's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Astronaut, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.

Everything went Hagerty's way against Astronaut when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Hagerty made off with an 89-63 win. Will Hagerty repeat their success, or does Astronaut have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
