Basketball Recap: Hanford Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mission Oak

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanford). They breezed by the Mission Oak Hawks to the tune of 103-73 on Saturday. Given the Bullpups' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Hawks are ranked 673rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mission Oak lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malakai Rodriguez, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Torrez, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points.

The win (which was Hanford's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Mission Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Hanford will be taking part in a tournament against Monache at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Hanford's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Mission Oak and Hoover will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mission Oak is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.4 points per game this season.
