Soccer Recap: Perquimans Takes a Loss

Perquimans and Holmes pushed the score to 9-0 the last time they played Holmes, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Pirates took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aces. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Holmes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on October 6th.

Perquimans was without their leading scorer, Bartosz Walachowski, in Wednesday's contest. With Walachowski sitting this one out, Trevor Rountree got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. his season average of 43.3).

Perquimans has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12-2 record this season. As for Holmes, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5-3.

Looking ahead, Perquimans will host Bear Grass Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holmes, they will take on Cape Hatteras at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
