Baseball Game Preview: Middleburg Broncos vs. St. Augustine Yellow Jackets

The Middleburg Broncos will venture away from home to take on the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Middleburg after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bolles.

Middleburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Austin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, St. Augustine made sure to put some runs up on the board against Matanzas on Monday. The Yellow Jackets were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Pirates. The Yellow Jackets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 11th.

Xavier Ahr was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Brandt Hudgins also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Augustine and bumps their season record up to 9-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Middleburg, they dropped their record down to 9-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

Middleburg might still be hurting after the 17-4 loss they got from St. Augustine in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
