Baseball Recap: Wallenpaupack Area's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Wallenpaupack Area barely beat West Scranton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buckhorns put the hurt on the Invaders with a sharp 15-3 win on Friday. The matchup marked the Buckhorns' most dominant victory of the season.

Cameron Lynch made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Lynch was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thomas Kiersted, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Toth, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Wallenpaupack Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive games.

Wallenpaupack Area and West Scranton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Buckhorns (ranked 459th) will meet Martinsburg (ranked 24th) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, West Scranton will challenge Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (453 vs. 175).
