Red Level took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 48-12 victory over the Shields Panthers. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Red Level can attribute much of their success to Malique Copeland, who rushed for 89 yards and one score on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Copeland a new career-high in passing yards (28). Another player making a difference was Shambrian Mayes, who rushed for 68 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Another reason for the win was Red Level's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mayes. Copeland got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Shields' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Red Level wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 29-22 win against Kinston on the 5th. As for Shields, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-0 loss against Southern Choctaw on the 5th.
