Preview: Copperas Cove Bulldawgs vs. Hutto Hippos
Copperas Cove is 0-1 against Hutto since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hutto Hippos at 7:30 p.m. Copperas Cove is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Copperas Cove was the victim of a rough 45-21 loss at the hands of Midway. Copperas Cove was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-0.
Despite their loss, Copperas Cove saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anthony King, who threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Arthur Miller, who picked up 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even though Temple scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Hutto still came out on top. Everything went Hutto's way against Temple as Hutto made off with a 52-31 victory. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Hutto as it put an end to theirfive-game losing streak.
Hutto haved a senior duo take command as Alex Green picked up 300 receiving yards and six touchdowns and Will Hammond threw for 380 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Green was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 67 yards.
Copperas Cove's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. As for Hutto, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 2-5.
Copperas Cove lost to Hutto at home by a decisive 49-31 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Copperas Cove have more luck at home instead of on the road?
