The Tavares Bulldogs will square off against the Eau Gallie Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Tavares is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Vanguard with a sharp 9-2 win.
Aliyah Cantu-Lopez and Nina Earl did most of the damage at the plate: Cantu-Lopez went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Earl went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Eau Gallie had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hurricanes an 11-0 shutout. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Jordan Stout made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Gabriella Barrera was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Shyla Eppert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Eau Gallie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.
Eau Gallie's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Tavares, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
