Softball Game Preview: Eagle's View Warriors vs. First Coast Christian Knights

Eagle's View and First Coast Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Warriors will square off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Eagle's View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Eagle's View fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Stanton on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 14-13. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Raghan Beckham was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out 14 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up five earned (and eight unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Savana Clifton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit two triples, marking her first of the season. Lilly Land was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, First Coast Christian was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They lost 20-1 to Harvest Community. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Eagle's View's record now sits at 4-9. As for First Coast Christian, their record is now 6-4.

Eagle's View couldn't quite finish off First Coast Christian when the teams last played back in March and fell 13-11. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
