Baseball Recap: Macomb Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Macomb and Illini West, and Macomb kept the tradition alive. The Bombers had just enough and edged out the Chargers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bombers have posted since April 11th.

Nick Elbe and Drew Watson did most of the damage at the plate: Elbe went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI, while Watson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most doubles Elbe has posted since back in March of 2024. Jake Ogle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Macomb pushed their record up to 10-13 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Illini West, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.

Coming up, Macomb will take on East Moline United at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bombers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Illini West, they will square off against Havana at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ducks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.58 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
