Basketball Recap: Mason Classical Academy Comes Up Short

If Mason Classical Academy was riding high fresh off their 50-16 takedown of Everglades City on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Paladins took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marco Island Academy Rays on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Mason Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michelle McCash posted 15 points. McCash's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Mason Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Marco Island Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Looking ahead, Marco Island Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Community School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mason Classical Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Rays' matchup: after the Rays face off against the Seahawks, they'll take on Mason Classical Academy again at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
