Volleyball Recap: Lafayette Lancers vs. De Smet Jesuit Spartans

After flying high against Kirkwood last Monday, Lafayette came back down to earth. The Lancers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the De Smet Jesuit Spartans on Thursday. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 20-25, 25-19, 25-10.

Alex Griffon paced Lafayette's offense, picking up eight kills. Griffon got some help from Ethan Tran and his 16 assists. Patrick Riordan controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lafayette fell to 3-1. As for De Smet Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Coming up, Lafayette will head out on the road to challenge Howell at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for De Smet Jesuit, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Rockhurst on the 5th.
