Basketball Recap: Pikeview Falls Short of Ripley in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact PikeView can now relate to. They took an 88-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ripley Vikings on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (62), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Ripley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Smith, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 21 points. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. Blake Justice was another key player, shooting 60% from the field on his way to 21 points and three steals.

PikeView's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Ripley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

PikeView does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ripley, they will take on Greenbrier East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Greenbrier East comes in on seven and Ripley on five.
