Softball Recap: Charleston Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

While Charleston's victory against Danville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Vikings 9-8 on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Charleston let Avery Beals and Rylee Lewis run wild. Beals scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Lewis went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Lewis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karley Eastman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Charleston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Charleston pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Danville, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleston will face off against Mattoon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Danville, they will challenge Paris at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
