Basketball Recap: Winfield's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Winfield fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Hamilton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Aggies by a score of 56-53. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aggies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hamilton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Chandler, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave Chandler a new career-high. Camden Robinson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Winfield's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Hamilton, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Winfield will be home for the holidays to greet Red Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. As for Hamilton, they have already played their next matchup, a 72-53 win against Hatton on the 15th.
