Baseball Recap: Selinsgrove Takes a Loss

Blue Mountain hit Selinsgrove with a 14-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Seals came up short against the Eagles, falling 19-2. The Seals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Selinsgrove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Neidig, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Aaron Witmer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Selinsgrove dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Blue Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Selinsgrove will take on Central Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Seals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Blue Mountain, they will face off against North Schuylkill at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
