Softball Recap: Millry Wins Going Away Against University Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millry). They blew past the University Charter Trail Blazers 14-3 on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Trail Blazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lilly Doggette made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Millry got a massive performance out of Hayden Beasley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Beasley a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Makon Pitts, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Millry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Millry's victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1. As for University Charter, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Millry will challenge Jackson at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Millry's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Jackson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for University Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge Pickens Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
