Basketball Recap: Mataya Hall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Memorial over Will Rogers College

Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Will Rogers College Ropers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Ropers this season, with their most recent loss being a 55-42 defeat back in January.

Memorial lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mataya Hall, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. That was a full 39.1% of Memorial's points, marking the 16th time in a row Hall has put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Trinity Germany, who earned 12 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Will Rogers College, they moved to 14-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
