Basketball Game Preview: Denver South Ravens vs. DMLK Panthers

The Denver South Ravens will face off against the DMLK Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Denver South has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 3.

Denver South and Northfield faced off in a cross-town battle on Wednesday. Denver South took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northfield. The contest was a 33-33 toss-up at halftime, but the Ravens couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Denver South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alex Gehring posted 19 points. Those 19 points gave Gehring a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abriella Garcia, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, DMLK took a blow against Manual on Wednesday, falling 56-27. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 116th).

Denver South will need to focus on slowing down Dez DIAZ, one of several DMLK players who made an impact when they last played. She earned eight points.

DMLK has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Denver South, their record now sits at 8-11.
