Thayer Central is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since January 25th on Thursday. They fell just short of Southern by a score of 49-46.

Despite the loss, Thayer Central got top-tier performance from Sam Souerdyke, who posted 20 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The contest was Souerdyke's fifth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Johnson, who scored six points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Thayer Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Fillmore Central came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over the Mustangs.
Fillmore Central's win came from a few key players Thayer Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Daniel Stoner, who went 10-for-13 to rack up 23 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Kiffin Theobald, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Thayer Central's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Fillmore Central, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Thayer Central has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 boards per game. However, it's not like Fillmore Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
