Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Poteet Aggies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 35-21 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2021.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Wells, who picked up 139 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Christian Sanchez, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Poteet, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.
Marion will head out on the road to challenge Luling at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marion is facing Luling at the right time seeing as Luling is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Poteet, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lytle at 7:00 p.m. on October 11th. Lytle will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Poteet surely won't give up without a fight.
