Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Maine Central Institute turned things around against Penquis Valley on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 15-5 win. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brayden Badger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Caleb Kennedy was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Koda Knox was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, while Erskine Academy put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Belfast. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Lions since April 27, 2016.
Erskine Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Hayden, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Erskine Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belfast struck out 12 times.
Erskine Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-9-1. As for Maine Central Institute, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
