The Avon Orioles will take on the Cascade Cadets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Avon is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Brownsburg on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Avon was beaten by Brownsburg 80-44. The matchup marked the Orioles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Aniah Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Makaylee Butts was another key player, putting up seven points and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Avon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brownsburg only pulled down nine offensive boards.
Meanwhile, Cascade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against Danville, falling 62-29. While losing is never fun, the Cadets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Warriors are ranked 75th).
Chloe Smith was Cascade's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Avon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Cascade, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Avon has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Avon strolled past Cascade when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 81-62. Will Avon repeat their success, or does Cascade have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
