Softball Recap: Milton-Union Bulldogs vs. Tri-County North Panthers
Milton-Union had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it eight. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tri-County North Panthers. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
As for Tri-County North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.
For Tri-County North's part, Alayna MtCastle made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. MtCastle was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Tri-County North got a massive performance out of Bella Cherry, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Cherry has posted since back in April of 2025. Chloe Jackson was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Milton-Union and Tri-County North could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 322nd) will meet Miami East (ranked 32nd) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Tri-County North will take on Tri-Village at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (161 vs. 42).
