Baseball Game Preview: South Park Eagles vs. Quaker Valley Quakers

The South Park Eagles will take on the Quaker Valley Quakers on Thursday. The last three games South Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

South Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Forest Hills 5-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Quaker Valley). Everything went their way against Bedford on Monday as they made off with a 22-6 victory. The Quakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Finamore, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Kolton Johnson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Quaker Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bedford only managed seven hits.

Quaker Valley pushed their record up to 18-7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for South Park, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-7.

South Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Quaker Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2019, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Quakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
