Basketball Game Preview: Herington Railroaders vs. Little River Redskins

Herington is 0-8 against Little River since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Herington Railroaders will venture away from home to face off against the Little River Redskins at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with ten defeats in a row dating back to last season, Herington turned things around against Peabody-Burns two weeks ago. They walked away with a 57-45 win over the Warriors. The Railroaders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Mason Mortensen, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Herington's points. Another player making a difference was David Dallinga, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Little River beat Norwich 40-34 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.

Little River's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.8 points. As for Herington, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Herington couldn't quite finish off Little River when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 57-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Little River's Jaxson Konen, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 23 points.
