Baseball Recap: Avalon Has No Trouble Against Non Varsity Opponent

Avalon won the last time they faced Non Varsity Opponent and things went their way on Saturday too. Avalon put the hurt on Non Varsity Opponent with a sharp 10-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Avalon got a great performance from Jackson Osbourn as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Osbourn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kade Johnson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Avalon is 3-1-1 when Johnson posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Shawn McEwen, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Avalon's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4-1.

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Mildred's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Avalon's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will venture away from home to challenge Bell County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
